I joined the site a few years back when i was looking at a 2002 warrior hence the name, I never bought it went ahead and got a 2006 yz250f instead, the other day i received a 2000 warrior because my buddy owed me some money its rough, needs rebuilt top end at least,(starts up but after 15 seconds smokes like a fright train) It doesn't make any noises in the valve train or anything so im hoping the head, cam chain and tensioner are ok. I understand the head should probably be redone as well, guides, seals, re lap the valves, on top of this it needs a arm bushings and the rear shock is garbage (excuse for a banshee shock or 01 raptor mod in the future) and its in dire need of the yz250 shifter lever conversion. But in the mean time there's a few "ghetto" mods i have found the start button on the headlight switch is broken so the wires were tapped into a toggle switch to start.I bought a new to me headlight, starter switch on ebay. I noticed there are two connectors a multi wire connector and one with either two or three wires on a smaller plug since the wiring is tampered with i can only locate the bigger wiring connector it seems the other three may be from the clutch handle switch (safety switch im not sure) its a black wire with yellow stripe and just a black wire cut from the clutch perch and wired together at the toggle switch the other terminal on the switch has a red wire with white stripe, so if any one has a picture of where the other three wire plug goes id appreciate it, no other wiring is tampered with just the start switch so hopefully i can trace this down. If anyone wants to give input on places to buy cheap parts for the build let me know and like a said if some one could take a picture of where those two plugs go under the "hood" it would help out. Like i said the quad if rough but in my eyes things are built and not bought so im ready for a winter project

Its going to be my back up since i have a bike, i was thinking a weisco high comp piston and a minor over bore,It may already have a cam it already i was told has a cdi box and exhaust, im thinking about 300-500 motor and 200-300 in odds and ends

Send the head off to pro 1 racing get them to give it a three angle valve job, new seats guids, port, polish decked and flow bench it. Bore job piston, rings, cam chain. piston choice is up to you but keep in mind more compression means more heat.

Are we talking a drastic amount of heat, or was that just a little fyi, I'm new to these motor's whats a decent set up power wise, that's fairy inexpensive. I'm not looking for speed just a fun woods toy.

If you just want something to trail ride and have fun on. You can hone the cylinder, do a valve job maybe a port and polish, put in a wiseco or other aftermarket piston, get a k&n with outer sleeve filter, pipe it, jet it and be ready to roll.

Mine is a 03 still stock on the motor as far as I know, has a k&n filter outer sleeve, and think hmf suppertrap pipe and runs great smokes a little but will keep up with dads 400ex, adn will just about outrun my uncles slight modded 300ex.
