ya that was takin before i started to sand and take the dremel to shape it more. i think im going to get the stuff to do the mold, make a mold of it and go from there the more i mess with the plastics and fiberglass its starting to separate. i was afriad it was gonna do it. witgh havin the shape im after doing a mold with the stuff sidewayz suggested i should be able to shape that just as easy as the materials im using now. im gonna hit this with some paint today so that when i get the mold material it should be good to make a mold of without it stickin to it to bad.

Just spray the part with tire shine or armorall . paint alone will stick to the mold .

Looks good. what about doing the initial opening part as more squared off then having it flow out to a rounded line? I just say this because the nose lines in the leading edges are all square then you have the roundness of the tank area. Either which way it has come a long way and looks good.

when i do the mold im gonna play with it a little more. the more i messed with the opening the more the fiberglass started to pull away from the plastic. the opening im gonna for lack of a better term block off when i do the mold so i can cut it to a perfect shape and size.

For doing molds, when we use to lay carbon fiber for Formula SAE we would lay it on a type of Styrofoam that we sculpted into whatever shape we wanted. I forget if it was a special foam though, just remember it was pink. Then again everything was vacuum-sealed and dried this way to remove any air pockets.

Just something came to mind... what if you were to fab up the scoops separate from the hood and have it made to rivet to the stock hood? This could allow you more flexibility in the design to work more with the shape. And if the riveting is done right, it could be very clean looking.

that idea may be next, the hood for mine i want as a one piece. after i get the mold made for mine i think im gonna cut the scoop off of the hood and make a seperate mold for that. that way there are options.

ha thats what were doin right now for sae baja, its just basic pink foam that we got at the store

I know for the RC cars and truck the bodies are lexan... Super strong plastic that is almost unbreakable. Paint the inside of it so it never chips again!

busy busy busy, it didnt turn out like i hoped. so the lower portion has to be cut off and i need to mold a new one with the inside of the hood, then both good ends put together

but when i do finish it, its gonna look B.A. im thinkin about painting it black or white or wrapping it in carbon
