I was gonna say timeing to as well, cause if you have good compression with in specs then the valves would be right if not the compression would be off. If it was 180 out would it even try to start? Wouldn't it sound funny if the timeing was off that far like in a car motor when the engine spins easy? Could it be that its flooding it out so fast that it soaks the plug thus not being able to fire?

Good question, I haven't had one apart or to time one, have you timed it per the manual? I think there is a T that is suppose to be at the top from what I have read on here I think! Or I know it would some work take side cover off and put it at TDC and see where the mark are and then check compression then if it doesn't have any the something isn't right or it could be 180 off.

Just thought of something else, could the mark be lined up right but the cam be set wrong with the chain? so the valves would opening wrong but the marks on flywheel would show its timed right.

The T mark that has the other mark close to it, is when the rod is on the up stroke (TDC). The other T mark is the bottom stroke. (180 out)

So with the TDC mark, the line on the cam gear should be on the top side closest to the timeing bump in the cam area.

With the T mark lined up with the mark in the hole, Lines up almost perfectly a with the Line and bump for the cam. I get that, but since the cam makes 1 rotation for the cranks 2 could it pop off shortly for a second or 2 if they had the crank timed to the cam on the wrong rotation.

Oh and for reference on the stator, the pick up coil tests at 180 ohms and the source coil at 280 ohms. Right in spec.

It could be it might be worth doing it yourself and redo the timeing on it just to rule it out so you know in your mind that it was right.

other have a good piont about adjusting your valves if they have gotten tight then you would be lossing some compression... also if you have a pullstart check the compression release lever on the exhuast valve and make certain you have a bit of play and it is not hanging up the valve

is the gas fresh ?

anoither thing to take into considerationg is the flywheel key... the timing marks will mean nothing if that key is sheared... ive had that happen to me before... shut off the 4wheeler running fine and came back a little later it wouldnt even try to start... had spark, had gas, had compression.. just the spark was at the wrong time

Flywheel key is good, Ive actually checked that a few times. Have done a little looking today. Pretty sure no warped valves, exhaust lash atleast seems a little much. Headed now to get a feeler guage and some starting fluid.

Well the good news first the valves are adjusted to spec already, now the bad news no fire on starting fluid and it suddenly lost spark.

So that could be your problem the source coil gone bad just all of a sudden?

At the same time I lost spark is when the source coil started testing high, so im assuming its actually been on its way out. I guess thats what I get for trying to save a little money and buy a used one from the same guy I got the flywheel from. Trying to get my money back now for it.

Gonna order one while Im waiting for the guy I got the used one from. Just need to get the money in my account tomorrow. Figure while Im waiting for that to come Ill look and make sure Im right on the clutch since I have time agian.
