Hi there,
I have always wanted to ride a quad and enjoy the trails. Now I finally have a few buckos to spend and am going to snatch me a warrior this week. My neighbor is buying one too and is an experienced rider. I have never set foot on one and was wondering how tough it is to learn how to shift. I love driving manuals in cars and can drive anything manual as far as autos go. I just dont know the learning curve for driving one of these bad boys without killing myself. I have quite a few warriors around my area to choose from in the 1k-1.5k range. Most are 2000-03 ones. Is that a good price to be paying for one in decent shape also. Any and all info would be appreciated, thanks :)

yeah i would say 1500 id pretty much a average price for about any warrior... you can buy on for $450 like i did and put almost $1000 into it or you can just buy a $1500 and be done... they arent hard to shift a all of you can run a car, same concept.... just as long as the shifter isnt wore to hell you will have no problem clicking up and down finding gears

the only advice i can give abouyt the shifting is when u take off dont have the rpms up to high or u could do a wheely. other than that it is simple.

yep pretty much like a car, except you use your hand for the clutch, and your foot does the shift, backwards from what a vehicle is. but you should be able to pick it right up. enjoy, and welcome by the way.

Thanks alot guys,
I aprreciate the info so far for this newbie. The other ques I have is I am 6'1 200 lbs. Am I at the right size for one of these machines or should I go bigger. I was talking to some guy on the phone at the state ATV club and he said I should get a 500 or 700 type of quad cause I'll bottom the 350 out when I go over rough terrain. Is that true? I really like the warrior with its reliability and affordability. Just wanted to know about that and if anyone with my similar body type runs on these without problems. Thanks...

i wouldn't worry about that. My friend is over six feet and he's about 200 lbs and he rides a 250 with no problem so you'll be good. plus you don't have that much experience so i bigger quad wouldn't be best.

dont worry about the shock bottoming out.. im 6ft and about 225, my roommate is about 235, we both have warriors and i beat the living hell out of mine. ive only bottomed it out maybe twice and that was from jumping it. if anything, rebuild the shocks when you get it

yeah the rear shock has a clicker adjustment... just set it up stiffer and you should be good to go... warrior in general dont have a lot of ground clearance to begin with (in the rear) but that will not be affected by rider weight

^ +2. You'll be fine man, but just feel the machine out. That's what owning your first machine is all about. ride it and have fun with it and argue with all your friends that the the Warrior was the greatest quad ever made!

exactly like the clutch on a car or truck except instead of a pedal its a lever.
