I was riding and it shut off on me and then i went to go restart it and the starter just spun freely i guess didnt engage, i tried pop starting and tires locked up im pretty sure its got compression and spark was wrong with my quad it wont start at all!

Probably need a new starter. It should lock up when you try and pop start it, just get it to the top of a big hill and start riding it down and then pop the clutch after you've got some speed. Or replace the starter :)

Gotta pop start it in 2nd or third.

So the starter just spins? And you do have spark? I'd guess your starter clutch is out. Was it making a clanking sound while starting it in the past?

Raptor

It wasnt making any noises just shut off and starter spins freely like does not engage if the starter clutch or one way is broke will it pop start?

It should unless the flywheel broke is key or came loose and if it did that it probable bent a valve and if it did that then the motor is probable locked with a bad valve

Thanks

I pop started it in 3rd down big hill and it started right up and it blew bit black smoke but ran fine and starter went back to normal some how idk thanks for help though.

When my starter clutch went, it never made the clanking sound, but sometimes it would work and sometimes it wouldn't. If it did it once, it'll only leave you stranded somewhere later on.
