I blew up my motor this past weekend. It lost all of the power and it started smoking. There is also a loud tapping sound. I havn't got a chance to look at it yet but i was thinking of buying a stroker kit for it. My first question is what brand should i get? I'm trying to save money but don't want to buy crap parts either. The other question is what size should i have it bored out to or keep it standard bore? I'm just trying to get more power(not racing or anything). I figured this would be a good project to keep me occupied over the winter. Also what cam and valves should i get to go along with the stroker kit?

I took the motor partially apart today. So far ive found that the cam bearings are shot, the exhaust valve seems to be bent and the cylinder wall is in bad shape. the rings may also be worn because there isnt a tight seal around the piston. I think im gonna go with the fst 446 kit. Should i get the .430 or .450 grind cam and would kibblewhite valves be good with it?

yep those sprongs will be good cam is all on where you want the power. remember with the 446 kit you need to pay to have the cylinder resleeved and the case bored. what shape is your crank in, you could leave it alone and just do a piston

which kit requires the least amount of money but still is good? i dont have a bottomless budget to do this. Maybe doing a 446 kit is a little overboard?

okay so i would just need the cylinder bored out and buy the kit and other parts and put it all together? I know theres more to it than that but i just want to make sure im not missing anything else BIG thats gonna need done

you would be $ ahead to just get some head work done, bore the cylinder, and get a high comp piston. asuming your bottom end is ok. then when you wear that setup out you will already have a good head to go along with your stroker.

right now your looking at replacing the exhaust guide and may as well replace the intake while your there as well as both valves, a new cam, piston, bore job, cam bearings, gaskets, and possibly a new rocker arm on the exhaust side and i would estimate this at around $600-$700 depending on what your machine shop charges and you doing all the work

If i can get it all done for under $1000 i would be happy. I really want to get the stroker kit and would be doing the work my self and i have a buddy that works at an engine shop so he doesnt make me pay a whole lot. Whats the best kit to get to stay in my budget,Get more power,Be reliable? if anyone could post a link to one that would be great.

4mil HotRods crank would be great. And a 11:1 piston. I got a quote to install a crank and piston, I was quoted $500. From what I hear, that is a very great price. So, add that in also. Anyone know if CP makes Warrior pistons?
