well, i might get called on this, but also a dry plug could mean that your carb is running really lean and you should richen it a bit, but anything else, i think you should go with what everyone else is saying
Well i poured gas in the plug hole then cranked it a few times took the plug back out and it was dry, It should have flooded it compleatly out I would think. I am new to this workin on yamaha thing though.
Yamaha has nothing to do with is. Every single 4stroke engine with a piston works exactly the same way. From a v12 lambo to your 4stroke weed eater engine. But anyway from looking at the links on my phone you seem to be on the right track but I'll check em out on my computer tomorrow and make sure
that gasket kit will do it.
you dont have to pull the valve seats out of the head. you'll need to lap the valve and seat to make the sealing surface match. watch this video (he's doing it on a briggs flat head motor BUT again ALL 4 strokes work the same way) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=unrds-2Pcog&feature=related
the lapping tool and compound can be bought at any part store
When i took the head off there was no sign of piston hitting anything, It is like the motor is firing wile the piston is on the upstroke... I had to put a new starter clutch on im guessing the previous owners were having the same problem and if i dont figure htis out shortly i will be changing again..
I am gonna tear the head down again tonight make sure there is no other parts that i looked over last time, probably order parts tonight also.. I am still not sure as to which gasket set to get most the ones iv looked at are more for changing the piston.
mine would do that same exact sound and it was a week starter and didnt wanna turn the motor over fast enough and it would pick back really hard. changed the starter, no more noise, but it sounds like a timing chain to me.
