are you still doing these headers? if so would you be interested in a trade for some coating work? or are you willing to just inform me on the particulars of where you have to install the expansion chamber and i can make one myself here in the shop. please let me know i would love to work something out... i can send you the pipe blasted so it is super clean for welding... then when i get it back ill just hit it with some high temp powder and pop it back on the bike

Tried the cermaic paint and install wet. Doesn't work well. I really didn't read all the fine print and I think it would work. But the grease has to cleaned off and you cant touch up if you scratch it. Next time I'll get it done professionally. My wife might freak if she found a painted header in her oven.

But this pipe worked for me. I don't know if it's different for different set ups but the throttle response is noticable.

Bake it in your bbq grill. Thats how I did mine.

I painted my pipe with bbq grill paint, iv ridden a few times and it still looks good.. I know its no were near powder coat but it worked for a quick fix...

Local wally world around 5 or 6 bucks..... I went cheap past summer really just wonted to get the warrior on the trails. If I can get throught this coming summer with no major problems im planning on stripping back down to frame and powder coating everything anyway so this fix worked well for me..

Honestly guys that paint will probably hold up the best, i havent seen a powder coat that holds up to exhaust yet. The only other real option ive found is ceramic coat and ive even seen that screwed up before on exhaust

well... powder does VERY well on pipes... all these are powdered on the actual header and muffler... holds up awesome... the last pic is my bike.. it is a built motor pushing 110hp/118tq... shields are powder coated in our regular super durrable powder and the muffler is coated as well... have about 6000 miles on the bike with this set up and the 2-2 pipe below that is the old one i had on there with about 35000 miles... if it is done right, powder will hold up great and look great! you have to remember those sleds are all 2 strokes that is going to run WAY hotter than a 4 stroke... high temp powder will handle easy around 1200* if your head is getting hotter than that you will have issues with the motor not just the powder!

AH ok high heat powder! i was gonna say regular powder doesnt like the heat cycles much at all! but i did not realize they built high temp powder as well. learn something new everyday! :tup:

again some regular powders will last. hell the super durable we use cures at 400* where a normal powder is around 350- 375... my heat shields are done in a regular powder... but as you can imagine there is a pretty dramatic difference from the header and the shields. it is all in the prep... that is what makes or breaks a quality coating job... alot of people have the perception that high temp powder is a joke, mainly cause they know a guy that hit it in his garage and tossed it in his household oven... it peels so that means it is all bad... well when it is prepped the right way, properly cured... it lasts and holds up VERY VERY well!

Good looking work, around how much u charge to high temp powder my header ? It is in good shape other than getting my bbq paint off should be normal prep...

usually around $50 to have a header that size coated in high temp flat or gloss black.
