So after splitting the case on my 350 warrior motor I can't get the output shaft out of the bearing. I tried using a rubber mallet and it still won't come out. Any suggestions?
Will it work if i heat up the case around the bearing with a torch to pull it out? Because I don't have a press if I did I don't know how I would attach it to the output shaft.I'd try to press out the shaft and bearing together out of the case. If the shaft has gotten so hot or worn that it is stuck, its safer to press them out together and then try to separate. I've had great luck with freezing the assembly and applying heat to the bearing as I try to separate them. File any steel flashing off the shaft. clean grease and dirt off, before you try to press them apart.
I got alot of wood, wood working tools and mechanics tools I just don't have a bearing separator a puller a cutoff wheel or a dead blow everything else you said I do have I dont have small grinders tho. The other things I have that can be used for this are a rubber hammer, a propane torch and a few different steel hammers I would use a piece of wood to hammer against the shaft if I use a steel hammer of course. I'm going to get a slide hammer, blind bearing puller and a dremmel because there the only things I don't have that can be useful. Usually when I deal with bearings there swingarm or linkage bearings so I just use my big vice to push them out and in but obviously can't use it with bearings that are blocked at the other end. Do you think I should throw it in the oven and maybe the bearing will come out of the case? Also I think I asked this but how would you clean the case halves? What tools do you have available? Such as a good bench mounted vice, pullers, bearing separators, grinders.
There are ways to do it without a press. But they could be slightly more likely to damage something. If done carefully, dead-blow hammers, blocks of wood, and careful cuts with a cutoff wheel could work.
