I just purchased a zoom zoom carburetor and for some reason the throttle cable is coming up short. The metal tube coming out the top that the cable goes through is a little longer than my OEM. Could that be the issue? If so can you take those off? I tried but don’t want to break it. Any tips would help.

That's a big issue. I would contact zoom zoom about that.
I’ve definitely noticed that. The throttle cable guide pipe coming out of the carburetor is shorter than the oem. Just about the same distance that I’m missing on the cable. I figured I could switch them out. I put an Allen wrench in the oem carburetor and popped that guide pipe out but I’ve been trying on the aftermarket and it just isn’t budging. I’m sure it would fix the issue but it just won’t come out. (I know it’s way better but I can’t rebuild the oem. It is way past gone)

I know this is an old thread, but was wondering if you came up with a solution? I have an 87 warrior and just replaced the OEM mikuni carb with a ZoomZoom carb. I noticed that the guide pipe on the zoom carb is longer than the OEM one and so it is putting too much tension on the cable and I don't have enough slack in the adjusters to fix it. I have one of these on my 02 warrior and didn't have this issue, so I am assuming that the 87 cable is shorter. I was thinking about trying to swap the guide pipes, but the one in the OEM mikuni is not budging and I didn't try the Zoom carb. Unfortunately, re-using the mikuni carb is not an option because one of the float pivot pedestals broke off when I was trying to get the pivot pin out :(. I'm trying to get this warrior running again and I had the Zoom Zoom carb (new) laying around from when I swapped the carb on the '02 a few years ago since I bought two of them at the time.

I was going to try ordering a throttle cable off Amazon for a 93+ warrior and see if that would work, but there's a lot of comments on there about cables being too short. Is there a specific year where the cable and/or the carb guide pipe is slightly longer?

I ordered a cable off Amazon which was for a 2001-2004 warrior and it was about 6" longer than the OEM one, even though the ad indicates it is same as the OEM PN. I spent some time researching OEM PN's and the 87 shows 1UY26311 00-00, where the other single cable years 94-2003 all show the same PN 3GD 26311-01-00. I'm going to call ZoomZoom tomorrow and see if we can figure it out. Otherwise I may just get one built to fit. I did notice on the Amazon cable that it has an adjustment in the middle of the cable, as well as both ends (like shown in the picture). The OEM one does not have that. Theres a couple other cables on Amazon that don't have the middle adjuster. I may order one of them just to see if there is any difference in length. They are only $12-15, so it's mot like it's big investment. I may also go by the local Yamaha dealer to see if we can match up a cable that will work.
