Yeah the spark like hops back and forth somewhat. Its not constant it kind of jumps everyonce and a while. Sometimes it is more constant but apparently not long enough to start it lol What stuff should I test???

This was missing the outside stator cover (the one that says yamaha) Maybe someone has had to get in there before lol

Just a quick question. This should roll start then right?? I would just go see buts its like -1000 degrees out lol

It should roll start. Have you test the stator for ohms yet. OH i know its cold its somewhere between -10 and -17 here.

Not yet. Im gunna sack out after a long boring night at work. I will check that manual and see where and how to test, and go from there. If I get a chance this weekend I will and I will let you know what results I get. Weather something is bad or not I just want to get it fixed. Thanks for all your help everyone YFM350.COM always pulls threw!!!!

Ok well I checked some things. I am unsure of what is what, as I a new, so I snapped some pics. I unhooked these wires

noStart001.jpg

This wire read 494 Ohms

This one read 199

I also checked ignition coil. Wierd when I hooked it to orange wire and negative to secondary bolt on key side I got 9.7ish Ohms both times, not .3 to .4 or whatever it is..... is that even possible?? The spark plug wire test came back at 5.7 Ohms and in spec. I am unsure of what the other wires are that I snapped pic of. Are they source and picup coils??? or just stator?? Anyways are these readings ok?? I know the primary coil on ignition is way out of spec,,, any ideas?? If i did not check source and picup coil,, where are they??

Well your source coil is testing way out of spec and your pickup coil is testing on the high side of spec. heres 2 on ebay from manufactures that are trusted:

So replacing the whole stator will inturn be replacing the pickup and source coil too then?? Should I worry about the ignition module?? Also im a little confused the manual on here says differfnt specs than I have read elsewhere. For some reason I see 300 and 500 posted several times. Anyways so the numbers I tested indicate replacing the stator??

Should I worry about the ignition module's primary coil being out of spec or no?? I hope its the stator. I mean I guess in my video people saw a inconsistant spark, and that could definitly be the stator!!!

umm that could be part of the prob too.... I bought a brand new RM ignition coil for 25 bones off ebay, so thems are a cheap fix.

Maybe to be safe I will replace both. I just want this thing to run lol. Also I noticed a wire plug under the headlight assembly that was plugged to nothing. Is this just an unused plug, because I saw nowhere fo it to go. Alll the female ends had a male end plugged into them. It had like a green or yellow stripped wire and a black one?? If this makes no sense I will get a pic!!

what we've seemed to discover is that the stator testing off at all really seems to screw things up. So far its been every stator thats tested out of spec, on a no start machine, ends up being the stator.Id say if you want piece of mind you can order a coil to.

This makes like what about the 4th one is past month with a no start, little spark or will roll start has been a stator issue.

I noticed that myself in researching before I posted. Whats funny is this things started like a champ BOTH times I went to look at it, then the second I get it home it laughed at me lol. I will order the stator and update you guys when I get it in!!!
