what kind of power with a 400 stroker kit or maybe bigger?
is the quad still reliable? ive heard 400ex becomes unreliable after big stroke mods, is warrior same? is it worth spending money on big stroke kit instead of buying bigger quad? thanks

this is what i was told from death.......
dont go with the bigger stroker kits because you have to keep the rpms down. he recommended the hotrods stroker kit. so far i've been able to find the piston, crank and rod for around 500. another good thing about the hotrods kit is that the case doesnt need to be machined for the new crank like the other stroker kits. if you look at his mods in the elite section, you can see exactly what he went with. he told me he was able to get 38-39hp out of his motor. of course you need more than just the stroker kit to get that kind of power. as far as reliability is concerned, i really cant answer that. here is my opinion on why i decided to keep the warrior instead of getting a faster 400.......with a few mods the warrior can run with a 400ex. the z400/kfx is faster but putting some money into the warrior's motor, it can outrun them also (depending on their mods of course). another reason why i decided to keep the warrior is that i just love the way it feels and handles. i've sat on other quads and i feel like i'm sitting on them but with the warrior, i feel like i'm sitting in it. they used to say that about 250r's vs suzuki's lt250r. i also like the fact that a warrior is a sleeper quad. they catch a lot of **** about being slow or whatever, but you keep it looking stock and you will see people's jaws drop. another reason why i love the warrior vs quads that are relatively new is that they have stood the test of time. even though they quit making them, we all know the rappy350 is pretty much the same quad. plus it isnt uncommon at all to see warriors still running from their first year. anyway, that is just my 2 cents on the subject. i'm sure that others have their opinions on the matter.

a warrior is a warrior. it will hold its own for sure!

i beat a stock kfx 400 with simple bolt ons and no motor work.

an edelbrock carb, oil cooler, clutch kit, overbore piston, hotcam, and a pipe, jet kit, w/ intake kit will be more than enough to have a great reliable and decently fast quad that can still hang with the bigger bikes.

if your wiling to dish the dough get a bike with a bigger engine. imo theres only so much you can get out of a warrior, and its rough to invest all that money that death did.

in the end both decisions are good, but if you love the handling of the warrior just like all of us do stick with it and put some money into it. either way your in good shape.

try out different bikes, if you feel most comfortable on a warrior then mod that out, but if you feel more comfortable on another bike then go for that other bike, i find honda 450r's way more comfortable then yfz 450's, so i would probably get a 450 r if i ever upgraded, and i do hate honda just so you know lol.

it is a risky deal. you have to keep in mind that just because you put money into a warrior, you arent going to be able to get it out of it. that's why you see so many people parting their warrior out. i dont know what you have on yours as far as bolt ons, but i highly recommend keeping all your stock parts. you will be better off putting them back on when you decide to sell it. by the way, you got any pics of it?

i dont have a quad yet. im looking for one to ride in to ride in the dunes and do some trail riding. a friend is trying to talk me into a rappy 660 but i am a beginner and im not sure about that. i have rode a stock warrior before and it had pretty good power. i dont care about drag racing. my other issue is my size. i weigh 350 lbs so the hp to weight ratio will definatly be an issue. i know the 660 with a few mods will be plenty but i like the fact that warriors are a lot cheaper. which handles better warrior or rappy 660?
sorry so long. thanx

I don't know, if I were you I'd look into a Banshee or YFZ. Those things own dunes.

yea man... you will be more than comfy on a 660.

a warrior is going almost backwards for you. i hope your not taking offense to this but im 240 and i literally beat the **** outta my warrior. a bigger guy will only be worse.

look at the bigger bikes you will be alot happier.

klutch- lol, i thought i would never buy a honda. turns out i love this thing man. power, suspension, ergos, everything is on. a z is a great bike thou bro. i would just keep moding the **** outta that thing. its turning out sick btw.

yeah i hope i didnt offend you when i said that stew!!!

thanks warriorxc, i try ::) my b-day is in june, so i'll be ordering that blingstar bumper for sure( FINALLY!!!!). After that im gonna leave the z how she is for a while, when i get a job i'll sell the elkas i have now, and buy the elite, get a-arms, and all that mx'y stuff :D

agreed with them saying to look at bigger bikes. i wouldnt recommend a beginner to get a 660/700r/banshee etc, but they would be your best bet. to be honest, a lot of 660's out there arent that much more than a warrior. keep us posted. if you have any questions about any other quads, i'm sure there is someone on here that could help you out. good luck

Dude at 350 lbs. I would look at the DS 650. Those things are made for bigger guys.

thanks for replies. no offense taken. that is why i was asking. i guess i will look into a rappy. will be a 660 though cause 700 r stil too new expensive. i found a couple 660's 02 model with a arms and shock mods as well as a 696 trinity kit for 4500 bucks. sounds pretty reasonable some high dollar mods.

I would go for a DS650 if I was your size as well, that'll probably be much more comfy than the others for you. To compensate for your weight you should drop a supercharger in the thing as well, that'll keep you running with the light weights no problem, after some experience on the thing of course!!!

[quote:lo4f9klh]just avoid 2001 660's. tranny problems

This can be debated! Thats all I will say.[/quote:lo4f9klh]
