Wire Harness Swap

Hello first off my warrior is a 95. recently the stator went out on it. my dad drives a 2001 warrior with the newer style wiring harness. he had an extra stator with a pick up coil and cover. he also has an extra procom cdi for it. so i decided what the hell ill do a wire harness swap. I figured that i would have to replace pretty much everything that required the newer connectors. I got everything swapped over, flipped the swithc on and the neutral light came on but the starter woulldn't turn over at all. I went over all connections, stator and everything. Am i missing somehting here? please help im lost :argh: thanks guys

Check your grounds and see if you can pop start it. Also jump the starter solenoid to see if its bad.

dont you have to change out the flywheel to if you switch harnesses? im not sure which years were interchangable

grounds are good. I held a screw driver up to the starter solenoid and it turned over. So could it be the switch? Or could it still be the solenoid? Ill try pop starting it tomorrow

pretty sure all flywheels are the same but i could be wrong. It wouldn't be the cause of my problem though

did you swap the run/kill/start/light switch?

when i said swap the flywheels i didnt mean for it to act like i was trying to fix your starting problem - my mistake i should have worded that a little better.

but im pretty sure some fly wheels need to be swapped i swear i read that some where. or maybe it was just for the 87's had 2 pick up coils? maybe im just confusing myself lol

I swapped the plugs on the switch only because the one with the right plug was broken. I checked all the connections and it checks out.

Ha i wasnt sure if you were suggesting the flywheel as a problem. My bike only has one pick up coil like the 2001

When you jumped the solenoid you just narrowed down the problem to the selonoid the start switch for the wiring inbetween.

so you are saying that there could be a short in between the solenoid and switch? Im starting to think its the solenoid. can i test it with a separate battery to check if it clicks?

It usually is the solenoid

okay thanks. actually the solenoid was the only part in the wiring harness that wasn't replaced.
