A friends machine will turn on, when you let off the button then it fires, if you happen to get it running, it will sit there and kinda idle, wont rev up. It runs roughly.

He needs to get the year though but would like to know whats available and a price on em.

Thanks for the move to the correct place mods* I was in a hurry earlier.

Yeah, you would think the motorcycle shop would know how to test the stator assembly to diagnose if thats the problem, or the ignition coil.

Another friend was saying he had the same problem, he would let off the starter button and the machine would start up only when he let off. Replacing the cdi for him fixed that problem, but different application.

Any other suggestions then?

Also, is the cdi's the same? I know the have different #'s for the 87, 88 & 89, then 90-95 etc. but is it something as simple as different connectors or did they change the timing curve on the boxes? Any aftermarket box work off of another machine? scooter cdi, etc.?
