Ben (93warriorrider) parted out his warrior and bought a busted ass LT250 for $600. (i basically bought the thing, i bought $500 in parts off him after my wreck) but I laughed at him the whole way. I still do! He's got it lookin brand new and when it wants to run right it a cool little quad but 75% of the time he's wrenching on it, trying to have it stay running right. And the whole oil in the gas thing has left him stranded more then once that i know of. I personally wouldn't own a 2-stroke quad other then a banshee. 400ex's are for ride red riders.......and the only people I know that ride red and are still kinda cool, are chick's when aunt flow is in town!

Keep the warrior and spent the cash to make it perform like you want it to.

or not.

I disagree, I think the 250 handles worlds better than a 400. The 250 2 strokes are just so damn light it takes no effort to flick one around and make it do what you want. Everybody talks about how good the 450's of today handle better than anything ever made, but I could raise a good argument about why a 250r, quadracer, or tecate 4 could easily do as good or better with good aftermarket stuff.

Do you just want to get rid of the warrior? It's mostly opinion but a 400ex isn't much better than a 350, I don't think it's worth the money to upgrade, and then you lose 6th gear and reverse and it looks like... well, let's just say the early 400ex's weren't the best looking things ever made, and the newer ones are just a wannabe copy of the 450r. I personally don't like the ergonomics of the 400ex, it would probably be ok if you got used to it but they just make me feel like i'm sitting high up on a bar stool compared to the warrior, which sits low, feels more like a chopper.

the reason i think it would handle better is because it has a raked front end unlike the 250 which has like 0 rake on it. but i could be wrong i never rode a ex, i was just going by how people are always saying how the hondas handle so well.

and the whole mixing the gas thing is a pain but there not really ment for long distances, thats why i have the warrior for going on long rides, i use the 250 to play around on.

OK.. and i was also thinking about a blaster bored to a 240 with aftermarket pipe

anybody know anything about the blaster with a vitos big 240 kit or whatever for a blaster and how it performs

I'll tell you this about the quadracer's fuel range, it had a bigger tank than my warrior and even just trail riding at equal speeds I had to go back to camp with my warrior more than once because his used that much more gas than mine and ran out. 2 strokes are fuel thirsty.

If you're a big guy, forget about blasters. They're a kid quad in my eyes, they're too damn small for anybody over 150 lbs and about 5'5". You can make them kind of fast, but like any other air cooled engine, if you bore them out that much they'll get hot quick and will be less reliable. In my opinion, Blasters are great for someone starting out as a first quad, but they're not worthy of big bores or any other aftermarket stuff. They're too small, and other than the few years (2003-newer)that had disc brakes, the drum brakes really don't slow them down and it creates a real safety issue, yamaha should have never built them with cable-operated drum brakes, terrible design. Not to mention that the suspension is one of the most unforgiving piles of crap i've ever seen, you'd do better to replace the shocks with some mickey mouse pogo sticks.

So just forget about a blaster. If you want a 2 stroke, or want something cheap and fast that's actually built big enough to handle a rider such as yourself, think about a banshee instead. They'll still run circles around a 240 blaster, while being much more stable. They have more things to go wrong and have more parts to replace than a single cylinder 2 stroke, but there's still very strong aftermarket support and parts aren't too awful expensive. You're still dealing with that kick start 2 stroke crap and if they're not running right a banshee is like a grenade on wheels though. Their powerband is more obviously present than any other 2 stroke, off the line they feel like they're going to stall out but once they hit the sweet spot a good running piped banshee will make you feel like you're going to lose your grip and fall off the back. So they're great if you like ripping around in wide open areas, just don't take them into the woods and expect to do well, it'll take a lot of clutch work compared to anything else.

if you get a decent suspention and (im not sure wha you have with motor mods) but a good bore and cam will make a decent mx machine. you would probably like it better if you kept the warrior i mx race mine

Kinda sound to me like you might be more happy on two wheels? Look for a YZ or XR250. ((what would be really really cool would to get a Mojave and put in the CWR kit.......that 2DOHC engine can crank out 74 horse!!! with that kit. And incidentally.....my lil bro has a Mojave that he want to sale! HAHahhaha))

^stock, yeah, but throw on a extended swinger, +2 a-arms and a +2 steering stem and your set!

HAH, just had a crazy idea! Put the modded mojave engine in a warrior frame?

Ya so forget the blaster and i had a deal with a guy for a 2002 banshee with cool heads and aftermarket pipes but he wanted to trade it to me after he took the aftermarket bumper nerf bars handle bars and wheels and tires off. so i would be gettin a banshee with no wheels and tires but its still a banshee. Should i go for that?

Do you know what kind of compression it's running with the cool heads? If the compression ratio is too high you'll be stuck running race gas, and you'll get tired of paying 6 bucks or more per gallon when the banshee will be using 3 times what the warrior does o start with.

Personally, I would try to find a newer-model banshee that's completely stock or just very mild, bolt on mods like pipe, intake, tires, etc. I don't want to make it sound like they're a ticking time bomb but a built banshee with internal mods is not nearly as reliable as one in stock tune.

And 75 horse out of a mojave? Yeah, right. I don't see any way in hell you're putting that much out of one of those little things, the crank couldn't handle the power, the clutch couldn't handle the power, the transmission couldn't handle the power, and really I don't see how you'd do it without doubling the displacement and running about the same compression ratio as a diesel. Those things are known for engine problems due to lack of lubrication even in stock form, and they only make about 15 stock on a good day. And could you imagine trying to kick start a 75 horsepower engine with a kick starter geared for a 9:1 compression 250? You'd break your ankle every time it kicked back. ****, even kick starting a stock tuned 350 can make you walk with a limp if it kicks back at you.

It would be a hell of a lot smarter to build a warrior to the maximum, it's a heavier engine, but that's because everything on it is overbuilt, so it can take all the forces that get put on it it.

You could also put it on the bottle... a little sneaky pete wet system wouldn't be too awful expensive but would give it a nice kick in the pants when you need it.

i had a banshee that i got for mx but i only used it a couple of times there was always something wrong i would never get rid of the warrior for one even if it was way faster
