Whats the difference between the red and yellow shock spring on the rear shock for the 87 warrior?? The one I have is red and Im a big dude 250lbs looking for some added ass handling when I reach lift off(I know im a bit big for this machine but im a bit big for most others too! )
Besides I can beat the hell out of it with no regrets!!

Careful, see if you can get a fitment test on that 660 rear shock, since the ressie is a piggyback, it may have some contact at full droop, or compression.
Someone on here has said something about the 660 rear shock I believe, but I wasn't able to find it for a quote. If you do just buy one, find a cheaper one for a fitment, or head to the yamaha dealer and see if they have any in for a rebuild, or an older one lieing around you can just swap in to check it out.

Hey what about a banshee rear shock??..the ressie sits a little lower than the raptor??

The 01 660 shock doesn't have a piggyback, it's a remote like the warrior's stock shock.

The banshee shock will fit, but it's not much or any better than the stock shock.

No one even answered the original question!! The red shock is cheaper than the yellow shock yellow shock says comp. on the parts list. Every Raptor shock is like $200 used to
$400 +brand new so I am not spending that!! I just want to replace the stock shock with the one that has the better of the two springs! Im buying a new quad in like 8 months and I just want this one to make it till then! I am not looking to be the fastest on the track just some trail riding and a few jumps! I am going to beat the hell out of this quad so I see no sense in dropping all the extra cash into it! So Back to the original question what shock is better or is there no difference

They havent changed the warrior shock set-up for a very long time. There is no diffrence between the 2 springs, one is not better, one just has a diffrent color paint. Yellow paint may cost more, or maybe in that year it was a limited edition color thus adding the extra 20 dollars.

And finnaly just to persuade you, you either heard your dealer wrong or he is trying to make 20 bucks. Both springs and shock absorber assemblies are the exact same price. But the springs alone are only 2 dollars diffrent in price, the yellow one being 2 bucks more, this is only due to a more expensive paint or at least thats what i would bet.

The COMP on the color means competition yellow. My suggestion is to pick up a used warrior shock from ebay instead of spending all the money on a new shock, you could buy a brand new works shock for the price of a stock one.

Thats what im doing(buying used) and I took the prices off a parts list. Thank you for the reply thats exactly the answer I was looking for! I was only wondering because my current blown shock spring is red the one im looking at is yellow. I just wanted to make sure it wasnt different like weaker or stronger!
