Well, it took forever to have the free time, but I finally made my new upper shock mounts.20241004_180336.jpg
The reloaction was done so that at full droop the shock is what hangs the a arms, not the ball joints. Wanted to design them so i could still use the factory mounts, which actually helped quite a bit to locate things and keep the parts symmetrical

They are 3/16th plate and welded in place all around.20241004_205259.jpg
Now I get to do the fun part of shock tuning!

What size shocks your running

16.5 eye to eye. Gained almost 2 inches of droop vs stock shocks on the same arms.
Had to shoot this whole project blind being I based all my decisions on using entirely the wrong shocks but I'm proud to say it works pretty damn good. It's a bit soft to where I'll have to get a little stiffer main spring but damn it irons out every bump I put in front of it, I feel like I'm damn near floating now

Been a hot minute but figure it's worth the small update: the freakishly warm weather means I've been riding the balls off this build all autumn, making up for time lost in the summer.
Got the carb tuned the rest of the way, ended up 42/170 and needle on middle clip with a big fat hit off the accelerator pump. I'll likely end up lifting the needle and turning the pump shot down a little next time I have it all apart.
Got heavier main springs in the elkas and dialed it in the rest of the way, it's so much of a smoother ride everything feels slow again. Rode down a rutted trail with roots everywhere with a friend that has a stock warrior, he was in full race stance and ripping through the gears... I was sitting and lugging along in 5th/6th to keep the dust down. You don't always know the improvements you make till you have a stocker as a direct comparison.
On that note, I picked up another warrior to put together for the old lady and any visiting friends. In doing some diagnostics I managed to burn up my cdi on the new machine... whoops! I guess I can ask Santa for a high performance cdi. This build is probably going to be done done over the winter, where I build an air box, get the barkers exhaust and redo my oil cooler setup. A big thank you to the members on this forum, active or otherwise, for providing the info and tips I needed to do this build.20241109_164047.jpg
