Ok. Well here my situation. I have two guys both wanting to trade for my dirtbike this weekend. One has a 2001 660 raptor with a 728cc big bore kit. Full aftermarket exhaust and has been jetted. The other one has a 2002 blaster. Bored .40 over. With full alien dmc exhaust. I'm having trouble on which one I should get. I'm. A little worried about the 2001 tranny on raptors. And the big bore kit may reduce reliability?. And I want to go somewhat fast. Wuld this 2006 blaster fulfill my need?. Basically just want 2 beat my buddies 400ex. Thts now a 403 bcuz it blew up. Id like to keep up with. So if any1 has opinions or can help me out. Thanks a lot.

My boyfriend had a 01 raptor if the tranny and oneway gear arent replaced count that into the price my boyfriend had a big bore kit a +3crank port and polished head a aftermarket tranny and one way gear the thing was nasty had it for two years and raced alot of bikes and never lost. The blaster is a fun bike but the suspension sucks and there small and it wont keep up with your buddys 400 some ppl say they will and it might....in a stright line with some money in the motor. Id go with the 660

Ok. The raptor also has stage 2 cams and a one way starter clutch upgrade.

The starter clutch(one way gear) puts you ahead I wouldnt believe the cam stuff inless you see it with your own eyes not saying the Sellers lieing but if he got it off Ebay they got a bad habit of sell stage 1 and saying there 2 or 3

I'd choose the raptor. I'm 6 foot and would be cramped on a blasty. So take into consideration if you are tall. It could beat an EX but you'd have to ride the piss out of it in it's current state of tune, imo. ALso, you won't have to mix gas, foul plugs, etc with the raptor. The raptor also has reverse, handy if you ride lots of trails. Not that the blaster isn't hard to turn around, but reverse is easier and nice to have. Never heard anything bad about the 728 kits. See if you can get the numbers off the engine to see if it is original or newer unit. Many people would get a bottom end or complete engine from a wrecked quad to ditch the 01 trans issues.
