I put a +6 kit on the front of my wifes rappy and love it, wont give you there terrible bump steer like spacers or flipping the rims. Stock yfm's are pretty narrow and widening them is about the best thing you can do IMO. They sell the kits direct on ebay and that where I got mine for about $100. Personally for 220 i'd rather spend another 120 and get some asr arms, but keep an eye on ebay and you should get a deal on a kit.

looks like a deathtrap. another $120 and you can get extended a-arms, and widen it the right way without fearing for your life every time you ride it. Plus those rigged up kits screw with the suspension geometry, and won't increase your suspension travel like actual a-arms will. And the stock ball joints on those a-arms aren't replaceable, ball joints on aftermarket arms are usually only $20 each if you wear one out or break it.

I say either do it right or leave it alone

How are the kits a death trap? Have you actually seen one in person? Believe me, I would not have my wife riding around on a "death trap".

The kits actually keep the suspension geometry closer to stock than extended a-arms, everything is still in the same locations relative to each other, just wider.

"do it right or leave it alone" yamaha says return your quad to factory specs cause they did it right the first time.

Nothing personal Yamarider, we all have our own opinions.

took the words right out of my mouth...hahaha every noob asks this question....and about the edelbrocks...there is a search tool for a reason

You guys ever ride on a quad with aftermarket a-arms, and also ride on the same kind with the stock ones? There's a huge difference in the way they ride, for the better.

I have the YFZ450 shock conversion.I think it improved my quad quite a bit.I have a 87-so no a-arms available for that year.

I do not agree with the widening kit though.Upper shock mount re-location is one thing that is relatively safe to modify,if done right.

Again,I only have the shock kit,and it is well made and stout.

If you have no fund for a-arms,you should just flip your rims or get spacers, because adding width IS very important. When I added the shocks,it made my front 3 inches wider overall. Then I added front graphite spacers.Handles great. If I could(remember I have a 87)I would get +3 a-arms made with longer shock mounts, then use the YFZ 450 shocks-perfect!!!

This is my quad in the front. It is 46.5 inches wide.
