i highly recommend the direct shifter mod. i just started on mine tonight. the shifter needs to be bent so that it isnt so long and also so that it doesnt hit the pullstart (which is going to be removed asap). my foot barely reaches the shifter right now, but it felt so much better getting rid of all that linkage crap.

I've been thinking about doin that. You can just use a 400ex shifter right?

When I did mine I picked up an aftermarket one from a shop around here. I grabbed one from a 01-current I think and it fit fine. I thought I had the bends a little too much, but when I put it on it fit perfect. I just put it in a vise near the bend and just smacked it with a hammer til it got to where I wanted it, then I flipped it over, and did the same with the other bend.

i think that any year shifter will work. i'm not sure what year shifter they sold me. if you want to be safe, you can take your old shifter apart and take the small part that mounts to the shaft with splines on it with you to make sure it is the same diameter. i think that mine needs to be bent a little bit more. i have to have my foot just a little bit more foward that i would like. the shifter bends really easy so it shouldnt be a problem.

i'm not familiar with raptors, but i'm guessing since they have the same motor, it will work on them as well.

anyone got pics of this? does this work for the big bear oil cooler setup, or do you have to use the banshee shifter and cut and weld it?

You'll have to cut and weld with the oil cooler adapter.
