i dont know about anyone else, but in the past there werent any places to ride that were nearby. plus, the closest place charges 15 bucks and is only open on the weekend. anyway, a while back a neighbor and his friend stopped by and asked if i wanted to go riding. they showed me of this place less than 2 miles away. i went riding with them once and broke my collar bone. i was down for the count for a long time but once i healed, my brother and i went back up to the spot about a week ago. on our ride back home, my brother looked behind him and saw a cop coming over a hill just as we were going over a hill also. we pulled over and the cop must have turned. anyway, the next day we wanted to ride again but didnt want to ride the quads on the streets. there was a small plant nursery near the trailhead and we called them to see if we could park the trailer there while we rode. the lady said that all that property belongs to this guy and he has the police monitoring it. we called up the owner and told him what was going on. he was super nice and said that he does have the police working with him, but if we wait about two weeks we would be more than welcome to ride there. he said that no one has ever asked him if they could ride there and he was concerned about liability issues. we told him that i broke my collar bone there and he never heard from us. we created a liability contract that will be signed and notorized.
sorry for such a long story, but bottom line is that of course some people will still say no, it never hurts to ask if you can ride on their property.
