Its been snowing quite a bit here and I've finally had some time to go to the cabin this weekend and ride. What a fun time. First I got to ride around just to see how much more power the warrior had. I was pulling 4th gear around pretty easy and could get up in 5th and 6th on the straights but it would really lug in 6th. With 20's and 14T. I thought that was pretty good. I think thats a gear more the I could pull last year.
Put some snow chains on the rear and made sure and lock them down so they wouldn't come off. I had to drop a gear as I was getting that much more traction! I couldn't believe it. I was tearing **** up and the guys I was riding with thought there would be no way I would go through some of that stuff. I was impressed. Also wish I would have got the V-groove chains but I got these ones for free.
Still neverous that I might take a fender off or leg if the chain comes flying off in the higher gears. Throws roost everywhere.
Some rambling thoughts..
I have a flat slide carb which basically is linked right to my hand.. When driving up a hill and the engine is starting to have a big load on it you have to keep the slide where the engine is building the most power and the volecity is kept high for torque. You can't just floor it and go wide open as you actually loose a little power. You almost have to roll the throttle on slowly and let the engine build when under real high load and torquing it. It's pretty cool. With a constant volecity carb you could keep the throttle pinned and the slide is controled by vaccum (the butterfly is all the way open as you control that) so it will basically do all the work for you.. keeping the engine at its maxium torque. The vaccum from the engine is actually controling how far the slide travels. This is why I like the CV carbs for are fourwheelers.
I had to jet up on the pilot with the cam and how cold it got out.. I kept the main the same as I jetted it a little rich for the summer to help keep temps down and have the engine live a happy life.
