Raptor 350 engine

Hey guys I’m making this post more less to see what the best option is. I recently just brought my Raptor to the shop for the engine and I found out it’s completely shot and it’s gonna cost $4300 to replace the motor. Is it smarter to get a new quad or look for a new motor? I’ve seen a couple Raptor 350 engines online I just don’t know if there trust worthy. Any feedback is much appreciated!

Yeah these motors are pretty basic and there's alot of info out there. If you have basic tools and a little motivation you could rebuild it yourself. For context of how bonkers that quote is, you can get a new crank, piston,and jug and have them all be upgrades for like 800$

The whole motor needs to be rebuilt. The shop said one of my valves broke and shot into the piston and messed the rest of the motor up they said they found pretty big metal chunks and that the bottom end wasn’t any good anymore. They also said it looked like the top end wasn’t getting any oil last time it had ran which would’ve been why the bearing and dowel pin broke where the timing chain bolts to.

Ya the shop told me it was $2800 just in parts

That sounds like the bolt loosened up which threw the cam timing off. Bottom end can be cleaned out. They just don't want to do it so they're trying to put together brand new everything.

Probably I haven’t seen the bottom end yet so I don’t know how bad it actually is I’ll probably take it back apart once I get it back.
