Mine has about 1/8 inch of free play. If it gets too bad the splines will slip and you'll be getting towed back home.

try JB welding that bitch, it works quite well as a quick fix. Do it now while you still have some spleens to somewhat help hold it in place. If you do the JB weld, position the hub so that when u apply the brakes the hub doesnt move(rotate hub backwards till she moves no more then goober some JB on it all around. If you dont move it backwards till she stops the first time you put breaks on it will snap the JB weld. Try not to use the rear brakes in reverse either:)

So, let me get this right. Instead of FIXING it the right way, you are telling him to screw up not only the carrier, but the axle as well?

Interesting.

Exactly. Take the hub off and look at it, and if the teeth are worn down pretty good just go to the yamaha dealer and spend the money on a new one. Don't get a used one, because you'll end up having the same problem. Your axle's splines are probably worn down some too, but if you replace the hub now you can probably get a few more years out of it.

i got a replated hub off ebay for 28 dollars it was all new looking and the teeth r new and its gold and looks good with my black sprocket and new gold change

my bad I thought he meant the splines on the axle were foobarred. I take it all back:) I must read more carefully
