K. Even though i JUST got it running, i'm ready to get rid of the Hot Cam. Back when i bought it i didn't know of any others. So I'm looking for some suggestions. Web Cams? Mega Cycle? I'm pretty much looking for balls out power.

Cam wont give you balls out power alone, but all cam companies produce a good product, its just in what lift you want. a .430 cam should be alright

I know the cam won't make the thing a bullet, but i got a good amount of other goodies. The head was WELL worked. Just want something that's gunna pull out all the power that is available.

one question: what's wrong with the hotcam? i have one in my warrior and it is great. just wondering why you would want to change the cam when i dont really think it will make much of a difference.

The web cams give quite a bit more midrange and top end, I wouldn't recommend the megacycle if you mostly trail ride. The megacycle produces almost all top end power for hillclimbs or drags. Go with a web full race cam if you're running high 10's or so compression. If you run the wiseco 10.25 you might like the all around web cam better.

are there dyno sheets that prove this? not disagreeing with you, but i would just like to see the evidence. thanks

I think it really depends on what type of riding your doing..."most" cams have different ranges.....in other words they have there ups and downs for performance ;)

"As what Boxhead said"

It is stated by hotcams themselves that the stage 1 (I believe the only one available for the warrior) gives more top end and midrange without the loss of low end power. For the web cams they give much more mids and tops at the expense of low end power. You can compensate for this by adding a much higher compression piston. The all around web cam is not quite as drastic and spreads the extra power everywhere, while the full race is for all out hauling balls with the throttle almost always pinned. With a six speed trans and overlapping gears why not get the full race style? You'll run more like a two stroke with the race cam in there, so it's a bit tougher to stay within the powerband. With a high compression piston you'll still be able to lug the motor much more than a actual two stroke though. In almost any situation the compression really brings the cams to life.

ah i see. well i can see that there are advantages and disadvantages to every cam. i like the idea of gaining top end and midrange without losing low end power with the hotcam, since my fmf exhaust should help with the low end. i have no problems getting around on the trails, so i have decent low end power, but dont use the top end that much. at least its there if i need it. btw, whats the deal with the whole core charge thing? do you send your cam to them and they weld on it or what? does web cams do this, b/c i know with hotcams it was just a whole new camshaft. thanks for the info. i guess you learn something new everyday! lol

Yes, the web cams are hard welded to add material to the lobes to form the desired shape. The full race cam has ENORMOUS lobes!!! With the 10.75 to 1 piston you don't notice any low end missing anyway. A good ignition curve also helps out plenty, one with more advance or a all around curve works as well.

right on. well im still kinda curious what is wrong with the hotcam (since rbod says hes getting rid of it).

They are as close to stock as any cam gets in the aftermarket world, unless you happen to find a stage two or three. The other companies make cams that have much more midrange and top end power, often the most favored for people who like to haul some serious ass and stay at a higher rev rate.

did they ever make a stage 2 and 3 hot cam?

I don't know about the stage 3, but I know for a fact that they do make stage 2's, you just have to special order them directly from hotcams.

You can get them from dennis kirk also, they are supposed to be combined with their stroker or so it says.

I would say get that over the stage one, but many more people favor the webs or other cams out there. Some others to check out would be powrolls, they make some good **** also. Even if you want a well spread powerband go with the all around web, my buddy has one on his 400ex and the thing rips compared to many others out there.
