I got my 88 all tuned up and running good now one of my tires is spinning on the rim. When I bought the quad it came with a like new extra set of stock tire/wheels off a newer Yamaha atv. I took off the bald overinflated fronts and the 20" rears (for more ground clearance) and put the stock set on. I can feel it spinning while pulling a wheelie. What is the cure for this?

I'm not sure how you could be spinning the tires on the rim? Seems impossible to me.
But to prove the theory put a chalk mark on your wheel and tire. Ride it and see if the mark moves on the tire compared to the mark on the wheel.
Then report back.
