Hey guys I will add some pics tomorrow of my new ride but got a question for yall!

Right now my truck got some 235/75R/15 inch tires on em, they look pretty big on the truck compared to my old ranger and when i turn real hard to the left or right the lugs on the outer part of the truck rub.

I was wondering if i purchase smaller tires will the truck seem to get up to speed and have a little more "balls" than the big mofo;s on it now?

The tires are the Goodyear wrangler Radials. pretty nice tires but i think too big, there the same size that are on my dads full size chevy 1500!

any suggestions?

Ohh and also what is the smallest tire i can put on them rims?? i want something with less width and a lot shorter in size since i heard shorter tires = more torque and acceration but less top speed.

Im thinking about going from 275/75R/15 to 225/50R15. should make a difference ? haha

hopefully it will be able to hold the load of my truck weight and also 800 pounds in the bed haha

What size do u have now? You gave us 2 sizes? If you have 275 I would deff change to something in the 245 235 range like a 235 65 15, google the stock tire size for that year s10

im an s10 nut and have owned atleast two s-series trucks at the same time for the past 5yrs so feel free to ask any other questions you may have.

for the record its fairly common for thes trucks to have the tires rub evem with stock size tires as they get older because the suspension sags out. as for sizing down tires, i personally would never do that cause it looks kinda retarted (im a 4x4 guy). and if you do size down the tires the topend of these trucks drop off dramatically and highway driving isnt fun. currently i have a 94 Jimmy that has a 4.3 v6 with 4wd and i run 31x10.5's over the stock 235/75s (28x8.5) and there isnt that much of a power difference and thats a 3inch difference which is only a relative change of about 10%. if u sized down in tires the same amout which isnt even possible in metric spec tires, that would only be a 10% increase in power. that isnt something your going to notice with the ole seat-o-pants meter but you will notice a lack of top speed on the highway which is major in these trucks since there already underpowered.

with a little more info i could prob send you in the right direction though. first off what year is it? 83-93 were first gen box square bodys, and 94 and newer were second gen round bodys. is it 2wd or 4wd? What motor does it have? V6 or 4popper? transmission manual or auto?

if yoiur looking for a wake up call for the little guy regear it.. i dunno what gears it has in it now but if you jump up a few sizes it will make you feel like you have a V8!

and since its 2wd you only have to do one axle!

also smaller tires are gennerally considered passeger tires (has a P before the tire size) and will have a lower load rating that a light truck tire (has an LT before the size) so you would decrease the payload capacity which is a very bad idea as youll tell yourself the truck is rated for x amout of weight so itll be fine but over look that the tires cant carry that weight safely

you might have 2.73 gears or possibly 3.08 bump that up to a 3.73 or a 4.10 and youll be SCREEAMING!!

im almost positive s10s never came with a ratio lower than 3.08. early models with a 2.8v6 came standard with 3.08s with the option of a 3.73 or 3.42 depending on the way it was optioned from the factory. 4.3v6 had either 3.42 or the much less common 3.73 with a govlock. 4cylinders with a manual were available with 4.11s.

and i deadlast i agree definatelt keep them big. even the 235/75s look small on these trucks thats why i sized up to a 31x10.5. Ill try to get a pic later today cause in my opinion my jimmy looks the way it should have from the factory with the bigger tires

I have no idea the size of his gearing i was taking a stab at it from a quick google search.. no matter what he has now if he is looking for a pep booster gearing is the one stop shop way to go

If you change the gears or use change tire size from factory make sure to get a speedo calibrater, otherwise you speedo will be off

Sorry I def mis read the tires last night in the dark haha. They are 235/75/15.

I don't really drive highways much just want to get more of a boost since these tires seem to weigh down the truck. I googles em and they are about 43 lbs a piece! Haha.

I just want something around 205/65/15 since It might make a difference?

The Truck is only 2wd yes

Your not going to find a 205/65/15 with the load range you need to safely carry anything in the bed. Your best bet is to goto a 215/70 or 205/70 atleast. They most likely put the 235s on because the Wrangler Radials are cheap and decent mud/snow tire.

okay got it with a 205/70/15 will i notice a little difference in power?

ohh and dirty airfilter anyone?

this was all in my k and n filter from the previous owner?!?! i wonder if that made a difference?!?!

that was the first time, i still got more dirt the 2nd and third

Ya I mean I'm not looking for something major. I bought the 2.2 knowin it would be like my old 89 ranger with the 2.3 4 cylinder. But that ranger seemed to hAve more top end speed. On the highway.
