Heyy, My name is J.D., im new here. I have a 2001 Warrior, The motor has a high compression piston, valves, grind cam, fmf powercore 4 pipe and powerbomb, k&n air filter, and some accessories from dg.
I Have stock suspension, they pretty much stink for anything but trail riding, and somtimes they annoy my on the traisl for the lack of travel. Would full 2001 raptor 660r shocks fit onto my warrior without breaking anything? People have told me they put stress on but will the stress go away? Will it hurt my quad? Also will 4 inch wheel spacers for front and rear hurt my warrior? I dont have a lot of money, i have enough for some 660r shocks and wheel spacers, Thank you very much

From what I've read on here the 660 rear shock is a nice swap without any major problems. It makes the rear of your warrior sit like an inch higher while not under load (with you not on it) but when you on it it's sag is enough to be near stock height, but it offers better performance. I also heard that the 01 raptor front shocks will fit but people use them with 2" a arms, so I'm not sure if they are naturally stiffer than the stock ones. And on top of that I'm not sure if they are using the 01 350 or 660 raptor front shocks.
Now about the wheel spacers, I haven't personally heard much on them, so I'm about as clueless as you are on their stability, sorry I couldn't be more of a help.

But other than that it sounds like you have a pretty nice ride. Get some pics up in the pics section.

Wazzup, Paintball, welcome to the forums!

The rear shock from a 2001 raptor 660 will work great. The front ones are a bit more controversial. Some people say that they work great, and just make it sit a little taller, other people are paranoid that they're too long, and when they are fully extended the put too much stress on the ball joints because they force the ball joints to travel more than they were intended to. Wheel spacers will also cause excessive stress on the ball joints, so those 2 ideas combined could very likely result in disaster, and then you'll end up having to buy aftermarket a-arms anyways, and possibly medical bills and other damages to your quad if a ball joint busts while you're moving fast.

I think your best bet on a budget might be to buy the cheapest ASR +2 arms for $350 shipped, then use those along with a set of raptor front shocks. I'd recommend an 01 raptor shock for the rear, and all you have to do to widen the rear of the warrior (assuming you have stock wheels) is to put them on backwards, so the valve stems are towards the center of the quad.

so im just going to put on full 2001 raptor 660 shocks, should that mess stuff up?? Without the whel spacers

Some will say it will, some will say it won't cause damage. The raptor shocks are longer than the stock ones, so in theory it is possible for them to damage your ball joints. If I were you i'd play it safe and get some aftermarket a-arms, then ebay your stock ones.

:( I dont have money like that.... What is the worst that can happen ?? Whats the best that can happen? What do u think will happen?

The worst that can happen? You could have a ball joint break at 60 mph, the front of the quad digs into the dirt, and you get thrown over the bars and end up with a broken neck and a trashed quad. (yeah, you're taking a risk here if I didn't make it clear yet)

Best thing possible: No major negatives at all, the front end just sits a little higher with the longer shocks.

What I think will most likely happen is that your ball joints will just wear out faster than normal, and in a few years you'll have to replace your a-arms anyways, and you won't be able to resell your old ones to offset the cost because they're ruined.

How about if i just get 4 inch wheel spacer and rappy rear shock :) im relentless.. No but really though where can i find information on the effects of the wheel spacers?

wait for the fronts is there anything like in the middle? Will stock z400 shocks work?

Putting wheel spacers on the front is only going to make your suspension worse, it puts more leverage on the shocks and makes them softer.

And there aren't any other front shocks that will work better that I know of, banshee shocks are the only ones that are the right length, and they aren't much or any better than the stock ones. I can't remeber for sure why the z400 shocks don't work, but I think it might be because one of the ends of the shock is a split fork mount instead of a solid mount with a bushing. They're probably too long too.

So would i be able to tell any difference at all if i bought banshee shocks

Unless your shocks are bad because they're worn out or blown out it would be a waste of money. There would be only a very small difference if any over properly working stock shocks.

But then at least i would have a little bit better front because i dont just want to have amazing rear and crappy front

There's no way it would be worth it, if you're that terribly pressed for cash then just wait until you save enough up, there's no sense in spending that much money for such a small improvement. Even if you can't afford new aftermarket shocks, you'd still be way better off getting a used set of works shocks on ebay when a good deal comes up.

Alright thanks a lot, I needed that ... On ebay theres a yfz450 04' rear shock ... will that be good on the back of my warrior or should i go 660r?

I mean this is worth it right? will i even be able to tell a difference in the rear?

A yfz shock won't work for the same reason as the 02 and newer raptor shocks won't work, since they have an offset piggyback reservoir the shock won't fit. For the rear your only option for improvement is an 01 raptor shock or aftermarket.

LMAO you guys are gona wanna kill me, My dad all of a sudden decides he is going To give me 1100 for suspension, Im definitely going to get a 660r reap shock, What kind of axle do i want for the rear? What kind of front suspension And a -arms.. Would 660r suspension work with ASR +2 a arms without breaking? lmaoo thanks a lot
