No you cant you can only run 5.0HO cams in a 351.

If you have a 351H in your truck how did it get there seeing how they stopped producing it in 1974.
so if they stoped producing the 351w (H) is 1974 then why do i have one in my 96? they stoped the 351 w (H) in early 97 you are right about the cam the 5.0 ho though but its also the cam out of the cobra which some models had the 5.0 H.O motor, i know th e7 heads are restrictive i want to put gt40 heads on it but i have to drill out the stud holes from 7/16 to half inch i belive and i dont want to wreck a set of heads i want to get mine ported but id need them done in a day and i doubt thats possible, also i have a SD motor not MAF

haha thats ****** funny. i'm not a ford person because ford sucks balls. this is the exact REASON i hate fords... to much (you cant use this cam in the motor). if your gonna be a ******* smartass you can do yourself a favor and kiss my damn ass.

No such animal as a 351w(H). There is a 351 H code that is a cleveland not a windsor.

GT40 heads are complete garbage, only about half a step above the E7s.
 
The Cobra cam was the same, Ford used a 1.7 rocker arm on it for the Cobra. It also used a cast version of the GT 40 intake. Engine mapping was also changed for the Cobra as was the mass air meter and injector size I believe. Upped to 24# instead of the typical 19#.

Not trying to be a smartass but everyone saying "throw a cam in it" just proves they don't know what they are talking about.

This is my last 351W build: 418cid Dart block, Brodix heads, custom ground cam, holley 950. Made 621rwhp on motor, 1040rwhp on 2 stages.

he's not looking to build a damn drag truck dude! it's a ******* 4wd that i'm pretty sure he uses bout every day. there is NO since in spending $8k on a engine for that kind of application. since he already has plans for headsers and such the BEST thing to do is throw a mild cam in it to gain some bottom end torque. in a car or even 2wd truck yeah sure build a 500hp engine to drop in it hell build a 600hp engine to go in a mud truck but anything over 400rwhp is not practical for daily driving. read the hole damn thread before you go posting **** like " Has anyone in here ever actually built a performance engine?" yes i am pissed because people that think they're hot **** and are gods gift to engine building piss me off.

yep looks like a ford motor. props guy your just like every teenage guy that has a mustang! you built a ****** over rebuilt dodge.

Dude, what the hell are you talking about? All 5.0 Mustangs from 85-95 were H.O engines, the only 5.0 Mustangs that weren't roller cam were '82, '83 &'84. BTW, EARLY 302 & 351W cams WILL interchange with a swap of the plug wires. In this guys case any 5.0 Roller cam will go in his engine. However, he'll have to use something fairly mild b/c he's speed density.
Also, just because many 5.0's were in trucks and passenger cars doesn't mean they aren't roller motors. Ford went roller in 85 so anything after that had the possibility of being roller. T bird, Cougar, etc.

I didn't tell him to build a drag engine I told him heads, intake and exhaust will perform ten times better then a cam. A cam swap will do next to nothing on that engine except waste time and money.

Your statement of anything over 400hp as a daily driver is not practical is not true. I drove a 700rwhp 04 mustang every day as my DD. Completely practical. I have friends that drive 1000hp cars as their DD. Hell cars come from the factory now with more then 400hp.

Don't be so jealous of Ford

shes gonna beat your ass, yeah intake and exhaust will have more flow but with out the right lift duration cam it wont perform, oh and if cam does nexdt to nothing how come a s1hc performs better then a stock cam in a stock for stock warrior? awnser that one

The stock 351w truck cam has plenty of lift and duration for low end performance which is what they are designed for.

LOL completely different engine. The head flows enough for the extremely small CID.

And not scared

Hmmm, I wonder why my 85 GT with stock heads and a Comp 224/230, .512/.512 228, 112 l/s ran so good?? Puzzling! The heads peak at around .450 lift but that doesn't mean that changing the lobe profile won't help it. Especially on the exhaust side. My lil engine was the aforementioned cam, Weiand intake, 650 Demon, LT headers and Blowmaster fatback. It also had USP underdrive pulleys but whoopty ****** do.

well aren't you just a billy badass know it all? I'm so god damn sorry the rest of us don't have the luxury of pulling 30 grand out of our Ass when we want to build a P.O.S mustang. I alway suggest a cam first the later when the rest of us get the money up do heads then a intake etc. unless it's something like my Chevy where you don't have to drive it every damn day. but please since you seem to be loaded out the Ass and have the friends with "1000hp" *cough ******** cough* cars then please please do us a favor and be our personal Obama and put us on your welfare!
