Just another small update. I found there to be an issue with installing the flywheel. I could not get the flywheel to press tightly on the crank. I did my usual; used the pull starter hub and crank bolt to draw it onto the crank. Took the bolt&hub off, and the flywheel rotates on the shaft still. The only thing keeping it from rotating 360* is the flywheel key. I then tried a couple other methods to pressi it on, without success. When the hub and bolt were on, the flywheel was tight as a nat's ass in a wind storm.

I talked to Jasonp and Bones about it. They both had the same issue. Which, to a certain extent, I am glad. Means that my crank is not a blem & don't have to pull it out. I did what Jasonp did, and put a generous amount of red locktite in the keyway & on the crank. Then put the flywheel on. I also put blue locktite on the crank bolt, & ran it down with my 3/8 impact. Should not go anywhere. If Jason and Bones haven't had an issue, stands to reason I wont.

So, for anyone looking at using a Hotrods stroker cranks, expect this. DO NOT USE THE VITO'S KEY. There is too much walk of the flywheel, and the ignition timing will be off tremendously. I feel that I got it pretty well centered, but, I plan to put a timing light on it when I get it running.

Mine doesn't rotate after pressing the flywheel onto the crank.. I think there is something wrong there if this is the case. Basically you are saying if the key wasn't in the crank shaft, you could rotate the flwheel on the crank after pressing it on?

It doesn't rotate when you run the pull starter hub down tight with the crank bolt. But, it would not stay pressed on when I took the crank bolt out. I did use the locktite, like you did, and today I took the crank bolt out for shits and giggles. Flywheel stayed planted good on the crank. Maybe it did press on finally.

I only loctited it with the stock crank cause I was worried about sheering the vitos key. Never had the problem of the flywheel being loose on the crank after pressing it on.

Well I'm not pulling it back apart. I grabbed it with both hands and could not move it. I think it will be ok. We will see. Bones said he had to thread the puller on it, and tap it on with a hammer. There is no latteral play on it. It is more of an intereference fit. If something goes awry I will think of something. I'm actually thinking of something at the moment.

i ment ER thank you. the d and r are close together and i have chubby fingers!:loco:

I know bud, just messin with ya, lol!

Pat, your flywheel didn't budge when you took the bolt out b/c that loctite bonded the two. You'll have to heat that to ever get it apart. Either way it will be fine though.

What's up with all the fruit talk? Somebody making pie? I'll just have a lil poontang pie, lol!

Don't think that dad and I didn't try that after you called and told me about it! LOL. I'm acutally thinkning that I have an extra flywheel AND an extra pull starter hub. I can cut the hub in half, wrap a copper welding block around the flywheel threads, and weld half the starter hub to it. That way the splines from the hub will keep it from ever moving...
